When I'm not in the crafty corner, I'm either taking care of something on the farm, going on an adventure with my hubby and our boys, or I'm teaching. No matter what I'm doing, I'm trying to spread a little kindness in this world.
I discovered scrapbooking when I was pregnant with our first son back in 2002. I stumbled upon a scrapbook store in Virginia Beach, VA where we lived at the time because my husband was stationed there. I felt like I discovered a new world in paper and embellishments! I quickly signed up for many of the classes they offered at the store and before long I was introduced to the art of rubber stamping and Stampin' Up!
My hobby developed and I enjoyed having a creative outlet. Papercrafting introduced me to a community of support at a time when I was a new mom of two boys whose husband often deployed for extended periods of time. I connected with others and discovered a talent and a love for teaching others as well.
The boys have grown so much and we've had several moves since then, but I still hold such a love for the art of papercrafting in my heart! I don't really scrapbook anymore, but I love making handmade cards. I still enjoy the community of papercrafters and leading a design team for CutCardStock.com.
I love my crafty corner and all it offers me. My boys are often in here with me - they both have artistic talent and know that if they ever need anything for a school project, chances are they can find it in my space. My husband is my biggest supporter, and he's even found his way into the crafty corner to create birthday cards and Valentines for me over the years. It's a place where a friend can come and just visit over a cup of coffee and we can solve the world's problems. What can I say... it's my happy place!
