Flashback Friday with a Bonus

I am running around like a crazy woman today.... tying up loose ends around the house because I am getting away this weekend. Yeah! I am joining other women from my church at a women's retreat up in the Big Bear, CA area. I can't wait! So I have been getting things in order, making lists, etc for hubby and the munchkins. I know they will do fine without me....

For Flashback Friday, I recreated a project recently published in Stampin' Success, a monthly magazine for SU! Demos. I wanted to change it up just a bit, so I broke out "Simply Delightful" an old Simply Scrappin Kit from a previous Sell-A-Bration. I love SU's Simply Scrappin Kits... they are great for getting several pages done, they make fabulous mini albums and other projects and the leftovers are perfect for cards. So on this project, I didn't stamp at all. This is simply cutting, scoring and putting it all together with the components of the kit.

The added bonus of the day is something I managed to make on Monday. Each Monday, I watch for Kristina's MACM (Make a Card Monday) video. This week, she taught us how to weave ribbon. I loved the look of it, so I created a patriotic card using the ribbon weaving and some 4th of July paper I had in my rather large stash. Enjoy!

Color Inspiration #4

I've been stalking, I mean checking often today on kwerner's site, waiting for this week's Color Inspiration challenge. I jumped right on it and came up with a simple card. I did meet all of the color requirements, although it's a little hard to tell. I used the "Rock-and-Roll" technique for the flowers, first stamping in Tempting Turquoise, then rolling the outer edges of the image in Taken with Teal. The little pop of Old Olive comes through with the leaves and of course the yummy Chocolate Chip satin ribbon dresses the card up a bit. Enjoy!

Supplies:
"Bud Basics" stamp set
Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla cardstock
Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa and Old Olive classic inks
Chocolate Chip satin ribbon

Hello, my name is Amber and I'm an addict.....

I'm addicted to stamps, paper and embellishments. I need to buy this stuff.... I love to buy this stuff. I collect it, store it, I've moved it across the country.... yet sometimes, I never use it. What is this disease I have? Am I alone in this crazy addiction?
I spent the entire day re-organizing my craft closet. Since the move, I've had to reduce down to a mere closet and a two-drawer filing cabinet in the 3rd bedroom, so it's close quarters. I visited all my stamp sets, new and retired. I organized all of my patterned paper, separating it by color family. I adjusted the layout of the cubes in the closet so that things would be more accessible to me. What a task!

During my organization, I saw so much stuff that I had forgotten I had. I must say, I really do have good taste when I comes to paper.... I've collected some beautiful paper. And don't get me started on stamps!

I ran across a stamp set that I remember seeing for the first time when the 2006 catalog came out. It was immediately my favorite.... on the top of my wish list.... I couldn't live without this stamp set! I realized that the stamp set I HAD to have had in fact never been used in the two years I've owned it. Ugh! So, yesterday afternoon I sat down and played with this set. I'm pleased with the final product - I paired it with a snippet of patterned paper I had forgotten about also.
So, I will continue to work with the wonderful things I have. I will enjoy the great stamp sets I own and tap into the stacks and stack of paper I own. One day at a time, right?! But I will add that there is always a little room for more new stuff, afterall a new SU! catalog comes out twice a year. (My fellow stampers know that, but I added it just in case my hubby happens to read this!)

"Voila' " stamp set
Ruby Red and Naturals Ivory cardstock
Basic Brown, Taken with Teal, Ruby Red, Pumpin Pie, Basic Gray & Summer Sun inks

Flashback Friday

Today was tax day for us, so my Flashback creation is a little late getting posted... The good news is, we don't have to sell either of the boys to pay off our debt to Uncle Sam! Whew!

I am so excited that tonight I am going to crop at a local scrapbook store. I haven't been to a crop since the move and I am soooo behind on my pages. Not that I ever get too much done at a crop, but I am really looking forward to it. The boys are looking forward as well..... smoked turkey legs for dinner, jumbo size box of Raisinettes and Wii games tonight!

So here is this week's "Flashback Friday" card:

Can I say how much I *LOVE* this set and I'm so sad that we don't carry another coffee set in our current catalog. This was from the 06-07 Winter mini catalog and I can't see myself letting it go anytime soon. I was thrilled to use it with some great ribbon I picked up at Micheal's a long time ago.... matching it exactly to Wild Wasabi, Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip. Enjoy!

Supplies:
"Like It A Latte" stamp set
Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White cardstock
Craft White ink
Chocolate Chip and Cameo Coral classic inks
Corner Rounder & Word Window punches
American Crafts ribbon

Boatload of Friendship

I managed to squeeze in a moment or two of stamping time today.... the boys are going crazy so I'm doing what a good mom should do later - I'm taking them to the movies to once again see Alvin and The Chipmunks. Yeah! (This is where my oldest would ask "Mommy, are you being facetious?") But, alas, Spring break is almost over for us and soon life will be back to normal. Did I say normal? I'm not sure that ever exists in a household with two young boys.....

I'm really pleased with this card. I pulled this patterned paper from my very large stash; I think I bought it several years ago. I matched it up with my Stampin Up cardstock and voila'.... I've got a great card to add to my stash. Better yet, I'm going to actually mail it to someone!
