Eat Cake!

I'm so enjoying the sketches from My Favorite Things! Sometimes I just need a little creative push to get my mojo going in the crafty corner. Today I thought I'd work with the sketch and make a card for my favorite almost 2 year old. My niece is turning two in just over a week, so I wanted to make a special card for her.
Here's the sketch from MFT:
And here's the special card for sweet Sophia:
The card base is from Neenah Desert Storm Kraft. I loved playing with my newest stamp from Stampin' Up! called "Big Day". The cake is stamped in MFT Hybrid ink "Black Licorice" and colored with a few Copic markers. I love how it turned out and can't wait to get it in the mail!
Would love to hear your comments, so feel free to let me know you stopped by. Happy Crafting!

Watercolor with Dye Inks!

Today I'm over at the CutCardStock blog showing how I used dye inks for watercolor. I'd love for you to stop by and take a look at the details of my project....
I'm also sharing this on the "Anything Goes" Challenge for Simon Says Stamp.

Up, up and away

I'm back with another card for the new sketch challenge this week. I loved this sketch and the chance to get some last minute crafting in before we begin our big weekend project... we are remodeling the bathroom! Here's the inspiration sketch:
My take is bright and cheery, using the newest Studio Calico stamp set, some patterned paper for piecing and the Die-namics "Snowdrifts" die set for the hillside.

I added a little bit of sparkle by brushing Wink of Stella over the balloon. I love the bits of dimension too. This card just makes me happy!

So now if you'll excuse me, I've got to change into some work clothes and get to work on the remodel. Happy crafting, or tile laying, or painting... whatever you may be up to!

I'm nuts about you....

So I have another non-traditional Valentine to share with you today. I am playing along with MFT Color Challenge 15, and also created a Valentine for my oldest son. In all his pre-teen coolness, I think he will appreciate that this card is not mushy, kissy kissy or lovey dovey, but just a little witty and masculine.
Here's the color challenge palette:

And here's my card:

I used various cardstocks from my stash and a stamp set from Studio Calico. I like the simplicity of it and I really love this color combo.

I hope you'll be enjoying Valentine's Day with someone special! Happy crafting!

For my super hero

I am participating in another My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge; this week is Sketch # 215. Here's the inspiration:

I followed it really closely, and love how it turned out! I had a lot of fun playing with the stamps from the Mama Elephant "Tiny Heros" set.

I used a few MFT products in making this card: the Circle Stax dies and the Hybrid Ink in Black Licorice for stamping the little super hero. I colored him in with Copic markers and the sentiment is stamped with Memento pigment ink and embossed with clear detail powder.

I think my little guy will appreciate this as a not-so-traditional Valentine's Day card from me. I'd love to hear any comments you have to share....
Happy Crafting!

Like Cookies and Milk....

I've got a little card to share that I made for two reasons.... one, to give to my sweet hubby for Valentine's Day and two, to participate in this week's sketch challenge. Here's the sketch we were to use for inspiration:

Here's my take on it:

I stuck to the sketch really closely, and love how the card turned out! I had a lot of fun coloring the little cookie and glass of milk with Copic markers and then adding Glossy Accents to the glass to give it a nice little shine.

I am finding these sketch challenges good for me because I'm making the time to get crafty in the studio. It's easy to get wrapped up in work and other chores, and neglect taking the time to do something you enjoy. For me, that's crafting with my stash of paper and stamps. So I encourage you to love yourself a little extra this week, in observance of Valentine's Day, and spend some intentional time doing something you love. And maybe eating a little chocolate too!
